Fully unprepared (AKA My first hurricane).

So. Um. I live in Puerto Rico, right? I know a lot about hurricanes. Of course I do, I've lived through a couple in my short life. All with varying degrees of "dammit, nature!". But I'd never dealt with one alone.

Hurricane Danielle is coming for us. After meteorologists had said that it would pass over 400 miles away from PR, Danielle decided to keep us on our toes and change her course a little. Wee! So I will be on the opposite side of the island with Genghis when the hurricane passes. Fun. I guess part of me sees this as an adventure, but I'm kind of worried since Damian gave me a hurricane checklist he picked up at the gas station and I'm...needless to say, woefully unprepared.

I have a lot of canned food and I have flashlights. I have big trash bags and first aid kits (which I bought because Damian and I go hiking, well used to). And Genghis has nothing to worry about foodwise. However, all my kitchen stuff is electric. My stove is electric! No gas! I'm kind of wondering what the hell am I going to do if the power goes for more than the time of the hurricane's actual passing. Crap!

Well, I'll let you know what happens. Hopefully, I'm just overreacting.

ETA: Change of hurricane. It is now Earl, not Danielle, who I should be afraid of.
